Manchester United edge past Barnsley in Carabao Cup thriller
Manchester United survived a scare to beat Championship side Barnsley 3-2 in the Carabao Cup third round on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils took the lead through Alejandro Garnacho in the first half, but Barnsley hit back with two goals from Devante Cole and Luke Thomas to take a shock lead.
However, United showed their fighting spirit to come back and win the game, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Rashford and Martial lead United's comeback
After Barnsley's comeback, it was Rashford who dragged United back into the game.
The England international scored a stunning free-kick to level the scores, before Martial won the game for United with a clinical finish in the 88th minute.
It was a hard-fought win for United, but they will be relieved to have come through it and booked their place in the fourth round.
Barnsley can be proud of their performance
Barnsley may have lost the game, but they can be proud of their performance.
The Championship side gave United a real scare and were unlucky not to come away with at least a draw.
They will now focus on their league campaign, where they will be hoping to challenge for promotion.
