Gervonta Davis set to defend lightweight title against Frank Martin
Undefeated champion Davis returns after 14-month layoff
Fight to take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on June 15
Following a near-14-month layoff, undefeated WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KO) will defend his title against Frank Martin (17-0, 12 KO) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 15, at 8:00 PM ET.
Davis, 27, last fought in May 2021, when he stopped Mario Barrios in the 11th round to win the WBA (Regular) lightweight title. He was scheduled to face Rolando Romero in December 2021, but the fight was canceled after Romero was charged with sexual assault.
Martin, 31, is a former IBF lightweight champion. He won the title in 2020 by defeating Tevin Farmer, but lost it in his next fight to Devin Haney.
The Davis-Martin fight is expected to be a competitive one. Davis is a heavy favorite, but Martin is a skilled boxer with a good chin. The fight could go either way, and it should be a lot of fun for fans.
